About Field & Home
Field & Home Journal is a collection of essays, field notes, conversation with craftsmen, wild caught recipes, photography and a well-lived Dedicated to the stories and traditions of the sporting life – the people and places that draw us back to a slower, more intentional way of living connected to the community and the wild places that surround us.
Shaped both by my own experiences and the stories of men and women who live at the intersection between the field and home each day, this journal reflects my upbringing in northeast Florida, my years in Charleston’s Lowcountry, and now the Texas Hill Country. These places have ingrained in me a deep respect for stewardship – of land, animals, food and community – and a belief that we were made by God to work, to rest, and to find meaning and connection to Him in both.
As seasons pass, this collection of stories is meant to document the enduring values and spirit of the American outdoorsman – a legacy that ages soulfully with time.

About the Author
Field & Home Journal is written by Kait Dobbins — a visual storyteller, photographer and marketer drawn, time and again, to wild places and the lives shaped by them. Formed along the Florida coast, shaped in the marshes of the Lowcountry, and now settling into the Texas Hill Country, her work reflects a simple belief: that the way we move through the outdoors should inform the way we live at home.
She writes alongside her husband Hayden and their three bird dogs, with a deep respect for craftsmanship, stewardship, and the quiet, daily rituals that give a life its texture and meaning.
